2018 mvc round logo 100Charlie Pye, skiing for the Mt. Abram Roadrunners, took first place in the 2022 Mountain Valley ConferenceCharlie Pye GS 360 Giant Slalom Championship at Black Mountain. Pye completed the drop in times of 1:00.71 and :59.38 for a two-run total time of 2:00.09 to take the gold. Right behind him was Joel Tardiff of Mountain Valley, who had times of :89.93 and 1:00.48 for a total of 2:00.39, just 3/10 of a second behind Pye. The final podium position was captured by Daxxtyn Williams, skiing for the Rangeley Lakers. He had times of 1:04.51 and 1:05.03 for a total of 2:09.54. Other top finishers were Pye's teammate Ian Allen (2:12.69), Winthrop's Jaxon August (2:12.74), and Mt. Abram's Aden Richards (2:17.15).

With the strong performances, the Roadrunners lead the Alpine Team Standings with 785 points. The Falcons of Mountain Valley are in second with 772 points, with Rangeley (389) and Winthrop (384) rounding out the team scores. 

Day 2 of the competition will be held on Saturday,  February 12th at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington.
